On April 30, Opus 4.7

become the default model in Claude Code for your organization. We’re making
this change to equip all users with our most capable coding model. This may
result in higher-cost usage. You can choose the default and available models
for your team before this change goes into effect.
What to know about cost
•
Opus 4.7 is priced the same as Opus 4.6 ($5/$25 per million input/output
tokens). Sonnet 4.6, the prior default mode, is priced at $3/$15 MToK.
•
With Opus 4.7, we’ve updated the tokenizer to improve how the model processes
text. The tradeoff is that for some context types, the same input may produce
more tokens.
•
Effort levels control how long the model thinks and can directly impact cost.
Opus 4.7 defaults toxhigh effort, which can cost roughly 20–30% more than Opus
4.6’smax effort.
How to set your team’s preferred or default models
You can manually select the default and available models for members of your
organization at any time.
•
You can set users’ default model with the model field using managed settings
