2SV will be required for Google Cloud console access starting Oct 20, 2026. MY CONSOLE Hello Kelvin, We're writing to inform you about an upcoming security update for your organization. Starting October 20, 2026, you will be required to use 2-Step Verification (2SV) to access the Google Cloud console. We have provided additional information below to guide you through this change. What you need to know In November 2024, we first announced that Google Cloud would be doing a phased roll out of mandatory 2SV, also known as multi-factor authentication (MFA). Two-step verification adds an additional layer of security by requiring users to provide both a password and a second verification method—such as a security key, a phone-based prompt, or a Google Authenticator code—during sign in. Key changes: Starting October 20, 2026, you must use 2SV to access the Google Cloud console and Firebase console with your Google Cloud Identity account. Your administrator can extend this deadline by 90 days. Watch for updates from your IT department about the final date when your organization will enforce 2SV. What you need to do Action advised: If you're using Google Cloud organization 15668454730, you must turn on 2-Step Verification for your account at security.google.com by October 20, 2026. If you cannot see the 2SV option, contact your administrator for assistance. What is not affected: Apps and workloads that run on Google Cloud, including those using Google APIs Google Workspace products, such as Gmail, Google Sheets, and Google Slides. These have their own 2SV requirement programs. Review the 2SV requirements for the Google products you use.
